People who suffer from dry eyes related to presbyopia have been told that they can still wear their contact lenses.
Eye doctor Susan Resnick told the Foster Folly News that contact lens technology found in Acuvue contact lenses designed for the condition can help people to continue with lenses even if they suffer from the ailment.
"The synergy of a proven comfortable material and innovative technology provides contact lens wearers experiencing the early symptoms of presbyopia with a better option for continued contact lens use," she said.
Acuvue Oasys contact lenses for presbyopia are made with silicone hydrogel and are said to have a particularly smooth surface.
Recently, Dr Susan Blakeney, advisor to the College of Optometrists, told the Daily Mail that contact lenses could help people beat feelings of depression associated with growing older.
She said that it is possible to get varifocal contact lenses instead of glasses and urged people to ask their opticians about the possibility.
