The best way for contact lens wearers to optimise safety and fully benefit from the products is to follow three simple rules care, cleaning and storage, it has been claimed.
According to the ARA, taking care with contact lenses is essential if people are to get the most out of the products and stay safe, with a daily routine important so people remember how to look after them.
Dr Hilary Hawthorne, a Los Angeles-based optometrist, said that there are many misconceptions about eyecare, specifically for contact lens wearers.
"It"s important to pay attention to your eye health and keep your eyes feeling comfortable. Proper care, cleaning and storage of your contact lenses can help you protect the health of your eyes," she advised.
Meanwhile, Dr Iain Anderson, chairman of the Eyecare Trust, recently told the Daily Mail that all contact lenses should be removed before sleeping, even the latest generation silicone hydrogel lenses.
