Bausch + Lomb's Joseph Barr has been presented with the American Academy of Optometry's 2010 Max Schapero Memorial Award for his contribution to the cornea and contact lens field.
Mr Barr, who currently holds the position of vice president of global clinical and medical affairs and professional services in the vision care department, will be presented with the award this Friday (November 19th) at the 88th annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry in San Francisco, California.
Dr Mohinder Merchea, director of medical affairs for North America, Vision Care, at Bausch + Lomb, said the academy's decision to honour Dr Barr with the award stands as a "testament" to his continued commitment to the advancement of optometry.
"We are proud that Dr Barr has been presented with this year's Max Schapero Award, a high achievement within the optometry community," he explained.
It comes after Bausch + Lomb has filed a lawsuit against Ciba Vision over an advertising campaign in which Ciba claims its Clear Care contact lens solution is "demonstrably better" than Bausch + Lomb ReNu MultiPlus.
