Children"s eyesight saved by organ donor

Children"s eyesight saved by organ donor

Two children are able to see again thanks to the generosity of an organ donor, after the corneas of a nine-year-old girl were given to patients of a similar age.

Christina Green, the youngest victim of the recent Arizona massacre that saw six people killed and a further 14 wounded, has allowed doctors to restore vision to two other children.

Her father John Green commented: "The fact that her organs were able to help people, that was an amazing thing to me," adding: "It's just another thing that this little girl has given the world."

US congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was among the people hurt in the incident that shocked the planet, as a gunman opened fire on a political event in Tuscon earlier this month.

The victim's family have revealed more of her organs were donated to help others, potentially saving the lives of numerous individuals, while her funeral on January 14th was attended by hundreds of mourners.
