Eyecare "should be a priority from birth"

Eyecare "should be a priority from birth"

Conscientious eyecare from birth is essential if people are to reduce the risk of sight-related problems and blindness, according to one expert.

Speaking to the Gulf News, Noor Dubai chief executive Dr Manal Omran Taryam pointed out that babies will have an eye examination soon after birth and noted that these check-ups will continue at regular intervals throughout their youth.

The expert added that parents need to recognise the importance of these tests and ensure their children undergo them, as they will offer early warning of any eye problems.

Furthermore, Dr Taryam told the news provider that many of his patients who experience problems such as eyespots, flashing lights and blurred vision tend to be in their teens, which highlights the importance of regular check-ups.

A recent post on the assistedlivingoklahoma.com blog said that people should carry out research when choosing which optician to use, such as checking their credentials and seeking patient referrals.
