New film Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol could give viewers an insight into the contact lenses of the future.
The latest instalment from the franchise, which is famous for its high-tech gadgets, features bionic contact lenses - a gadget that scientists are predicting may not be too far off becoming a reality.
Other gadgets in the film include gloves that stick to any surface and a BMW with a touch screen interface integrated into the windshield.
Director Brad Bird told Popular Mechanics that some of the inspiration for the film's gadgets came from technology that is currently being developed.
"We used a couple of ideas that [scientists are] working on," he said.
"The camera that fits on a contact lens, that's a real-world thing. But then there are other things where they have the principles working and they've done experimentation, but they're years away from getting it - like the gecko gloves."
However, not every gadget in the film could soon be hitting the shelves, with the director admitting that some were just 'crazy ideas' that the team tried to make look believable.
