BCLA issues contact lens tips

Contact lens wearers have been issued with some tips on how to get the best out of the products, with the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) advising people to be safety-conscious.

The organisation noted that people can help themselves to avoid any problems by not using tap water when rinsing lenses or filling the storage case, and ensuring they properly dry their hands before handling lenses.

Other things to avoid include wearing lenses while swimming without goggles over the top, and entering the shower or a Jacuzzi.

The BCLA noted that other common mistakes include using ineffective lens care solutions and failing to follow the instructions issued by the manufacturer, and so it is important to bear these things in mind.

According to the organisation, there are around 3.7 million contact lens wearers in Britain, which represents 7.5 per cent of the country's adult population, and so widespread safety needs to be taken into account.ADNFCR-1853-ID-801436390-ADNFCR
