Manufacturers of eye products such as contact lenses, glasses and sunglasses have been given awards at a Russian conference.
Moscow-based exhibition organisation Expocentre announced the winners of the National Optical Award Grand Prix MSOO, which were first held last year and awarded during the International Salon of Ophthalmologic Optics.
There were more than 12 countries represented at the awards and over 100 companies competed for titles.
Within the Best Optical Product competition, Johnson & Johnson took the prize for the contact lenses category, while Seiko won the gong for best lenses in spectacles and Luxottica for best sunglasses.
Among those named in the Best Optical Company awards were MED-IN for contact lenses and Optic DIAS for sports glasses.
A recent report from HealthDay on usnews.com urged people who wear contact lenses to wash their hands before inserting or removing them.
Furthermore, they were told to use hypoallergenic make-up products and not to share cosmetics or re-use old mascara wands.
