What Are The Benefits Of Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses?

Silicone Hydrogel contact lenses have the same shape, size and function of regular hydrogel contact lenses but with the addition of silicone they are more porous so allow more oxygen to reach the eye which reduces the risk of eye hypoxia.

As silicone hydrogel contact lenses allow more oxygen to reach the cornea they offer increased comfort over longer periods of time that the regular hydrogel lenses, so are ideal for extended wear - upto seven days and 6 nights or even continuous wear - up to 30 days straight.

WetLoc™ technology is a trade mark of CooperVision and refers to a process they use to create a hydrophilic contact lens that provides optimum wettability.

WetLoc is a non surface treatment that manipulates the structure of naturally hydrophobic molecules found in silicone so that a contact lens containing silicone hydrogel can bind with water molecules making them adhere to the contact lens and making them hydrophilic.

WetLoc also provides increased wettability through out the day and increases wearing times and comfort.
